You are able to be checking off of a list of characteristics in the organization, development, and conventions traits of writing as you are reading each student's essay.
There are two forms on each sheet that allow you to either have both graders determine a score on the same sheet or separately so that you don't know what the other reader is thinking.
Once you determine a score, you can give analytic feedback in the separate areas of organization and development from those of conventions. Write TO the student at his or her ability level with specific feedback on how the content AND conventions can be improved.
