ENGLISH PERSONAL NARRATIVE RECORDED WEBINAR:
4 PART SERIES: How to Get 3s and 4s on Personal Narratives using ONE place and ONE event to respond to a prompt
All Webinars will be recorded and sent by email about one a week apart from each other. This will allow you to watch them on your own schedule and give you plenty of time to teach the entire process of personal narrative and not just assign it, hoping for the best.
NOTE: 90% of the material used in these webinars cannot be found in my DEAR DOC ELAR Writing Binder due to the fact that these trainings focus exclusively on the personal narrative purpose and process of writing.
Part One: Recorded Webinar Brainstorming, Planning, & Introductions
Trainings will include the digital graphic organizer for a story/personal narrative, a hard copy class set of 25 of how to add voice to personal narratives that are "H.O.A.R.S.E." sent via post office, hard copy class set of personal narrative story telling remotes sent via post office, a list of live composition ideas to bring experiences to students who have very few for whatever reason, an updated copy of the 2020-2021 DEAR DOC ELAR Writing Binder, a list of 20 personal narrative prompts in test format and in full color, and 3 follow up videos of approximately 2 hours each in length. (Descriptions below)
Part Two: Recorded Webinar - Body Focus will be one ONE event that responds to the prompt naturally, not an essay that simply restates the exact words of the prompt. During this session, you will learn how to teach students to use personal anecdotes as ways to explain reasons and ideas for expository.
Part Three: Recorded Webinar - Conclusions that add depth and what is commonly known as an "extension." Here are the exact words in the personal narrative scoring guide: "The narrative conveys a good sense of why the experience was important to the writer."
Part Four: Recorded Webinar - Editing and Revising the Essay in class, group, partner and SOLO settings
