The week starts off by comparing conclusions to the dessert you would have in a meal. That would mean that the introduction is the appetizer, the body represents the meat and vegetables, and the drink would be the editing and revising you would do before the final draft! :)

There are a total of 12 to 13 ways that I model ending essays with this week's lesson.
As part of day one I use the prompt one celebration you enjoy to give nine different ways to end an essay if Christmas was shown as the celebration. This allows your students to see written colorful examples before they even begin the others.

The rest of the week uses the prompt: Write about one room that is very special to you. Explain why you enjoy being there so much.

The thing you will enjoy about each variety of ending/conclusions is that they allow your students to read them and look for run-ons or fragments before they rewrite them. I have left plenty of lines so that once your students have correctly written the sentence(s) that are the examples of each ending, they can use the same skill to try and write their own ending in a similar way below it.

Day One: Conclusions with Restating and Rephrasing
Day Two: Conclusions with Rephrasing and Emotions
Day Three: Conclusions with Opinions and dialogue (what someone might say)
Day Four: Conclusions with Insight and Change
Day Five Conclusion with Thoughts and Reflections
